How big a piece can we scan?

Even if the circular opening of a CT scanner measures 70 cm, its 'field of view' measures only 50 cm in diameter.

So ideally the piece should not exceed 50 cm (20 ins) in diameter.

However, there is almost no limit to the length of a piece as long as its weight remains reasonably manageable.
