Is the CT scan a dating test?

The CT scan is an imaging technique that measures density but cannot be used to determine the age of antiques & works of art.

Nevertheless it can sometimes reveal radiological signs which may indicate fashioning techniques consistent with those used during a particular period of time or by certain cultures.

In other words, the CT scan does not replace a thermoluminescence test (TL) or radiocarbon test (C14) but is complementary to them.
